    E30m3+m30b35=?

Just wondering what R3v thinks. Alpina and Hartge did back in the 80s, why not know. I know some people may say the weight of it is to much. But it is period correct. Everyone else is doing the S50/S52 swaps. Just wanted to get some opinions from some folks. I just need some others expert opinions

PS: Im waiting for "It is your car, do you what you want to it."

If you are going to swap an M30, I would go straight to the S38. Better power to weight ratio. Unless you are going to build a sweet M30 for it.

I recommend s38b35 if you can find one. b36 is too much work to do properly for only 30 more hp.

S38 is ok because it is awesome. M30 has about the same power but with different delivery characteristics and will kill the good part of the M3 imho. Even putting an M50 in my 318i I could feel a difference in handling.

The M30 is about the same as an M5x engine in weight.
S38 is much more heavy and big though so I wouldn't do that.

The M30 can make comparable power to a stock US S50 or S52 but looks cool and period correct (alpina, hartge did it) and is more simple and less costly to rebuild if you care about that. It also has a good relatively flat torque curve. much cheaper also.
If I were you I wouldn't do the swap on an e30 m3 though, just do it on a non-m e30.
It really depends on what your goal is.

M60. Better in every department except the one that requires 6 cylinders.

S65. Better in every department... see where this is going?:)

When choosing the right engine for a swap it's really all about whats the most important to you.. power? cost? difficulty/work? upkeep? reliability? weight distribution?

                  Lemme get my glasses....

Shit, just get a Nazca C2 and swap the engine from that. It'll be like having a dual S52 swap.
