so basically a fuel line broke (dry rot probably) and up it went. The body and interior are still pretty straight. The "fire wall" definitely did it's job. I don't have full coverage on the car so no help from insurance. I was picking it up from a shop that was replacing the camshaft and crankshaft sensors when it happened so they are supposedly checking to see if their insurance will cover anything. I'd hate to scrap it for parts as I really do love this car.

Doh! No, I agree, shop for another. Fire- damaged cars are a headache to work on,
      and that looks pretty bad....

rusty slammington is gonna do it, why not?
if you have the time/patience/money/nofucksgiven, then sure its worth it and anything is possible.

if your looking to have an e30 with nice paint i would say start over with a new shell.
if not, do what is possible

I'd say that's one reason to get your hands dirty and replace the motor. Is the dashboard fried too? What about the suspension? Does the metal look compromised?

Your fuel lines just "happen to fail" from dry rot following a service which may have included removing fuel lines??? I dont think that is a coincidence. I would be calling the shops insurance company.

NO, keep remaining parts and move on. Seriously it will always smell like burnt something.

If you have the room and time to fix it than I say go for it! Don't let it die!

When it comes the repairing fire damage, you need to factor in replacing every panel that was exposed to the heat and soot even if the panels seem to not be warped. body filler and paint WILL NOT stick.

I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but it appears the metal is all still good. Suspension seems fine, although it was getting time to replace it anyway. The dash that I've kept crack free is still crack free, albeit with a little meted glass on it now.

I think a new heart with all new wiring might get it back on the road but there are still a lot of odds and ends that will need to be replaced.
