I hate it when people throw things around like "Rebuilt engine and transmission" on <2k cars in beat up condition. Hell, I saw someone selling an eta m20 advertised as a "Fully rebuilt 325i engine" for $200.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

            restored.

I f**kin hate how the members of thi site throw that term around. restoring is something you do to a 50-70 y/o car, not a crapped out e30. a new paint job is not a restoration.

hoon/ing is a pretty stupid sounding word too

"Dude the Suby's going stage two next week."

And to the above, I just got down with a "Stage" argument a few days ago.
              Not a fan of it. I guess I have a Stage 2 E30.

I hate how restored is used. If it's being advertised for sale as a "restored" (insert car here) I want to know more about it, and what you did to "restore it"...

Sometimes it's acceptable if it's clearly a pile of shit turned into a gem, but usually it consist of an IS lip, a HG and maybe wheels.

Rightio. Don't call it a stroker unless you modify the actual dimensions of the crankshaft. Anyone can drop in a crank from a different motor.

Yeah I know, my car is/was Dinan "stage 1" at one point, they sent me the official badge and all, but without any context it's meaningless.

Guys just assume you know what tuning package (if any) they're talking about on any different brand or model, or worse yet that a "stage 2 intercooler" means the same thing on any car.

I had my 325is complimented by some younger guys in a very low mkII Jetta. I said thanks and was about to leave when the one told me I need to "Stance it". After reading this thread, I think I know what that means and just confirms my decision to lessen my involvement w "tuner" people. I love my car, dig this site but can't stand all the stupid jargon.

ehhh.. this depends on how you do it. A stroker is relative term; relative to the engine in it's original state.
So technically taking a m20b27 and putting a b25 head on it is not a stroker since compared to a stock m20b27 the stroke has not changed.
But taking a m20b25 and putting a b27 crank in it.. that's essentially using b27 parts as an OEM "stroker kit" for the m20b25.
