When people think that their car is super built because it essentially has bolt-ons.

Plenty of other things bother me, somethings listed in the thread, not so much. If someone is knowledgeable I don't think they're stupid because they use passe words. I know the 'proper' term for N2O is nitrous, but there have been times I've said "Nawwws" without thinking about it. Who cares. You're a douche bag if you stop people mid sentence and correct them, because you knew exactly what they were talking about.

Is it acceptable to bump this with one that I don't see in here? I hate it when people say "kit". Like "Short shift kit" or "lowering kit". And I personally think "paint job" sounds ignorant but that may just be me.

Oh man, who does he think he is, David Puddy? (Seinfeld reference)

What age groups are we talking here? If you're older and he was younger, that's just disrespectful. If you're younger and he was older that's a mid life crisis.

Eh, I don't think "kit" is that bad if the seller a.) Further explains why it's advertised as a kit. And b.) if it pertains to something that can be and is in fact a kit. Using "kit" to me simply refers to it being complete and ready to go vs miscellaneous parts.

When I was on the Nissan Titan forums, "Lift Kit" was used religiously. Whether it was a basic/generic spindle + rear block configuration, or an all out custom long travel kit with "xxx spindles, F+R King remote reservoir coils/rear shocks, King bump stops, NCD upper + lower control arms, Deaver leaf springs, shackles, limit straps, etc"-it didn't matter. "Kit" was used for any combination of parts (from basic to complex) that would be a plug and play set up.

I meant more like in the situation of "lowering kit"--a set of springs. And my friend said he didn't like the shift throws on his e30, so I suggested he could get a shorter shifter, recommending the Z4 and Z3M. He just said "nah, i'd rather just get a short shift kit". Now I know he knows a lot about cars and I didn't feel like asking him more, but there's really nothing that a short shift "kit" would contain. It's just a shifter and maybe the center bushing. Replacing anything else is basically getting into the territory of a shift linkage rebuild, in which case a 'bushing kit' would be an acceptable use of the word 'kit'.

Tell us what it actually includes. I don't know what the fuck is included, exactly, in a stage 3 kit for a B7 S4...

stage one is a non intercooled 6 psi superchager

stage two adds intercooling, different programming, larger injectors and 7 psi

stage two + adds cams, headers, 8.5 psi, even larger injectors and different programming

stage three is a complete rebuild on top of the above with lower compression pistons, a ton of headwork, larger valves, titanium retainers, double springs, etc, etc, etc
