    Is this safe?

So I was replacing my hub assembly and the inner race of my bearing decided to get stuck. I mean STUCK.
So i got a tad frustrated and grabbed the cutting wheel and well.....
my dumbass cut a little to far in a few spots and didnt realize it until right before it came off.

So is this safe if i put the new bearing on this? I know the inner race does not spin so i would imagine it would matter with the semi-small cuts i made into the axel stub when a ring is simply sitting on top of these.

    whats the verdict?

P.S.- I know this is in the wrong section, but i put it here to get a faster answer as I need to know before i put the new hub assembly on.

I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

Kind of risky, gives the bearings a place to seize.

Im not quite sure I understand that since the inner race sits over this.

Should be fine. Just take a file to the cut and make sure there is no burr.

Sounds like you arepretty convinced that it will be fine. And if the cut up part is going to be resting against something that won't move then it should be fine.

yeah, unless you cut right into the base of the stub where it transitions into the
hub, it's not really taking strength out of something that matters, nor is it
                causing a stress raiser.

So it's probably no big deal.

If it will make you nervous, though, now's the time to swap it out. Used strut
housings aren't too pricey... and hubs aren't cheap anymore!

I am pretty convinced, but sometimes I dont always think things through.
So I figured I would post something anyway. Thanks for the help

It's fine. The inner race goes around that, then the bearing, then the outer race. Bearings turn on the inner race, not on the spindle.

As stated above, just make sure it's deburred and slap it on there.

You couldn't get the inner race off with a puller?
