I saved myself a bunch of money on tools to change my wheel bearing.
Rented a torque wrench and socket from autozone. I also bought 2 bearing pullers from harbor freight.
Brought all the stuff back when i was done. Got all 150 bucks back :)Leave a comment:

you sound like someone who just discovered the internet.Went to Autozone today to buy the gauge for a compression test and apparently....you can just borrow them.
I did have to give the guy cash as a collateral for the gauge, but as long as i bring it back without smashing it to bits it's completely free. I had no idea Autozone did stuff like that, I was impressed/super pumped i saved 40 bucks.Leave a comment:

A torque wrench will get knocked out of calibration eventually, especially if abused. I wouldn't trust a rental torque wrench for anything important.Leave a comment:

Buy one.
They do rent them but their tools are used/abused. I wouldnt really rely on most precision tools from them but if you need something blunt like a bearing puller (which is usually prohibitively priced anyway) its the place to go.Leave a comment:

autozone also has a program [if i remember right] where every time you make a purchase over $20 you get a point.
when you get 5 point [spent at least $100] you get a $20 credit.
i think the conditions are 1-have to get points within the last 6 months 2-cant split a purchase like split a $50 into two $25....but you can do that you just have to wait 6 hours or something like that.
20% discount is good.
plus they take your old oilLeave a comment:

sorry OTThey'll most likely rent you one.
I normally go to my local kragen/o'reilley's. They sorta know me there and they're knowledgeable enough for what i buy there. The customer service is amazing (I was buying kragen brand oil for my moms car once, and the cashier showed me other oil that was on sale but not labelled--cost like $4 less than 5 quarts of their store brand oil) and they also rent out tools. One time a guy saw my car outside and started talking about e30's and how his friend has one (which i'd seen around a few times) and that he's thinking of getting an e36.
wasnt Kragens bought off by O'Rileys?
the one in my area went out and O'Rileys replaced it
and for the On Topic question
can they let you rent more than one tool or is it one at a time?Leave a comment:
