To make engines sound better, some automakers are broadcasting motor noise through speaker in the cabin. Is this progress—or an affront to the purity of the engine note?
I lol'd.
shame on Bayerische Motoren Werke for implementing this as well.
Since when do turbo's make a car quieter? Every (aftermarket) turbo car I've ever heard is quite a bit louder then the same car with no turbo. Someone is doing it wrong.

No way. A turbo itself acts as a pseudo-muffler, the sound having to go through the turbine before exiting. Ever wonder why turbo cars like sti's can run straightpiped exhaust and not be insanely loud?(just loud with a lot of droning) Now think of how loud a non-turbo like an m20 would be straight piped.

^^my car with an exhaust leak
Its fucking loud. It sounds like a serious v8 but moves out like a Civic.
Why not just not install a shit ton of sound deadening material? Seems to me like we're creating a problem, then creating another problem that can be eliminated by removing the first problem.
