$7000 on fuhraze go fast parts and shiny things is REALLY crazy when the car is just sitting in the driveway waiting for a fuel line.

Personally I'd check out the AKG short shifter, or go for the Z3 1.9 or other short shifter with the DSSR if possible/necessary.

In all fairness though, if you're stuck with UUC, their shifter (once you've got the right parts) feels very good.
Go with AKG if anything! They are quick to answer phone calls, etc. Product is great. But I would def not spend money on something like that before all the seals bushings, hoses, etc. And most certainly change the trans mounts, selector shaft seal, output shaft seal, fluid, etc. while messing with the shifter

DSSR is silly if you've still got vague steering and/or clunky balljoints.

realistically, youre going to need to replace the CSB and guibo because most non-enthusiast cars never have them done as long as the car is still driving. i agree with replacing the soft fuel lines...it's cheap and a major safety item. i've seen two cars burn the past year. you'll likely be chasing vacuum leaks too, torn intake boot, old gaskets etc. TRANS FLUID. 5 of the 7 cars i've changed the fluid on this summer had little or no fluid left. just do it. replace at least the selector shaft seal while you're doing the DS stuff too.

I learnt the hard way. I put 600 towards ie3's and replacement front DB's and valence. Did not need that shit. Now my car needs an inner cv joint and fuel pump and my e30 is not running. IE3's are just chilling in a box and I'm selling them to fund for fuel pump.

    second this.
fwiw - I must be like $5-7K into extensive/thorough maintenance on my e30.. most of it preventative in nature. In any event - it's mostly all OE/stock - and the fuckin thing is magical. Just sayin..

Seeing your "chart" of modification steps I'm just gonna say you're doing it WAY wrong. Listen to these guys or open up your Bentley manual and start replacing stuff. A modified car is useless if it isn't running.

He has a $450 SSK on his list. The complete and total list of preventive maintenance items on the car will end up being a fraction of what he has budgeted for "upgrades."

Don't forget replacement of all flexible fuel lines and new clamps for them.
