    Killed another e30

Well, I think I blew my 2nd engine

I was driving the e30 325i tonight, about to make it home. I was going up a hill when it stalled on me, I noticed my oil light then turned on, followed by all the other warning lights.

It didnt just clunk out and die, rpms dropped and I turned it off trying to restart.

Starter just spins and isnt cranking anything.

My professional opinion, timing belt snapped. 169k on the original belt, im sure it was bound to happen.

Again, the e30 gods hate me, thats a dead e30 m3, and now a dead 325i

I guess I deserved this one, shoulda changed the belt.

In the Army we have whats called a PMCS thats preformed before during and after all vehicles are ran. Preventitive Maintenance Checks and Services. Very useful if you want the vehicle to stay running. The timing belt would fall under one of those "annual" checks that are to be done. Interval of replacement..... as needed. 169k is as needed. *LOL* Sucks mang..... but guess thats what ya get for tryin to ride the line.

Would you guys agree this sounds like what would happen? This is what I am assuming now

Also, before you rag on me not changing it, this was a car I got for $1900 when I was a sophmore, ive been dumping loads of money into my e30 m3 and have neglicted this car, mainly because I dont want to spend gobs of time or money on a car I dont want

I feel ya, but you gotta do the upkeep regardless. Now you've got a 1900 pile of poo that could have been fixed for less than 100 bux and a days worth of work.

But thats what it sounds like. Key turns and engine spins REAL fast?

Honestly im not too sad about it, the car had so many other problems it wasnt even worth driving, the body was going down the crapper since its a native MN car, rust up the wazoo. If the timing belt didnt kill it, mother nature would

Yup..... Most likely candidate.... timing belt. No compression so the engine just turns almost as fast as the starter can. Sucks. Even though it was a crap box you coulda still shown her some tlc mang. Pop the valve cover and see if anything is broken. If not it may be worth the few hours it would take to put a new timing belt on it so you can have a second ride. Just a thought

Yeah, Ill see how bad it is, I will probably just scrap it anyways. Ive been lookin to sell it for a while now. I do not want to drive another e30 in winter again.

No way in hell that you have the original belt.

Every 60K, anytime after that and the belt is physically starting to fall apart.

My guess is you were on your 120K change and got unlucky.
