Dang, I have been searching for a while and haven't even seen that ad. What/which terms do you use to search craigslist?

My buddies would grind 3rd real bad, and once you got it in there it would jump out of gear if you let off the gas.

Those transmissions are usually pretty tough

She has a 2010 Sonata and hates it. She lives in the mountains and drives a lot so I figured an old German beater was perfect for her needs: comfortable, tough, cheap, economical. $2600? Even if she only keeps it for 2 years, she'll get her money's worth. Then she can sell it to me and I can use it as a 2nd car. :D

Now that is a ton of car for the $. Great buy OP. Bilsteins and throw a set of 17" style 5s on there and it would take a big step up in the looks department.

E34s are really well built and take well to minor mods. FWIW - my mom drives my dad's 95 540/6 all the time and when in town she asks if she can take my E34 M5 out for a spin. She really enjoys the way they drive. GL

Thanks man. Previous owner actually put new Bilsteins in the front, and I would LOVE to throw some 17" Style 5's on there. It'd look pimp. :D

its a peice of cardboard wrapped withh 70s vinyl. black in my case. stapled with cheap chinese staples that rust. Im detailing mine right now and it amazes me what they got away with as far as making interior parts out of cardboard. The e30 literally has a particle board glovebox held up by peices of nylon cloth. I have never seeen anything that cheap anywhere. Like, plastic is too expensive we must cut corners!
And before I put the gaiter on it the only leather was the front of the front seats. all the rest was cheap vinyl.
I hadnt actually ever heard of any door cards that fell apart but thats bad too.

The worst door cards on any car ive seen as far as being 3rd world peices of garbage are on e30 bmws. yech

eventually door cards were made of like plastic. Ive got an 85 toyota truck though almost as cheap as the bmw however it has different inserts lol. meaning they can color code it to cloth or pleather. not held together with staples.... basically almost as cheap. thicker particle board and screws at least. I dont knoow, 5c vs 2c door cards.

durable though as you pointed out I guess.

even like a yugo from the late 80s is a lot nicer.

its just jarringly out of date for a car in the late 80s early 90s, it looks more like a 72 ford pinto. the e36 might fall apart but its very nice real car non playskool look at least.

when i see any bmw interior it makes mine look like pure crap especially an e36 or e34 or similar era.

Really?! Then why is mine a lined plastic shell, covered in foam, then particleboard, then a tough tolex covering?
