Snap-On back to enforcing their silly

    warranty rules. Anyone feel slighted?

OK, I know this topic comes up every week and all but today I called snap on's customer care to warranty two wrenches, and all was well until I was told that they have a new policy that states you must have proof of purchase or they will send them back. Well how the hell I'm I supposed to have a...

Snap on normally keep your name on file when you purchase an item. I have had things replaced that i didn't even purchase and was doing something totally out of its design ( i.e. using screw drivers as punches/ pry bars). As long as it says snap on they should warrant it.

This. Otherwise, you may as well buy shit at sears and be able to replace it when it breaks, no questions.

The dealer has some leeway on this. Mine will warranty anything, I've heard of others not doing as much if the tool is more than a couple years old.

If true they must be hurting, deservedly so if you ask me.
For the price they get service after the sale is assumed. Their product is NOT ten times better than the pedestrian brands, many of which carry a no questions asked replacement warranty.

They are a bit less cooperative these days also. Much older Craftsman tools were of good quality, the current stuff..........
I'll regrind the tip of an old screwdriver rather than exchange it for the garbage they sell today.

This as well. I have never used snap on but I don't see how it could be 10x better then other well known brands

I have always found the 'second tier' tools to be better than I am-

Weller, SK, Mac, Cornwell, etc... and priced far more appropriately to my needs.

Sears only has a 1 year warranty on their torque wrenches and only on the ratchet head. My adjustment lock sleeve was broken. No replacement, they would be happy to sell me a new one though. With a 1 year warranty I said no thanks, I'll get something with a better warranty.

I use harbor freight. some stuff is good and the other stuff might break but it costs just a couple dollars to replace most of the time and all their hand tools have a lifetime warranty.

My harbor freight wrenches love to round off.
I think the brand is pitsburg.

Now I get sears stuff for the return when that happens.

Just bought some of my first Snap on tools...

16 Wrenches, a Streamlight, and a 3/8 Drive locking flex head ratchet. $882 later.

Ive got a cool rep tho, I don't think he'll have a problem fixing anything that broke.

Its not even so much my Craftsman stuff breaks, it just blows to use.
