Mine works halfway perfectly. I almost got stranded by it.

it is very reliable. at 1/2 tank, you are actually empty.

I got pissed off one day cause I heard this loud whine from the back end of the car, and I knew it was from the fuel pump. A few miles later the fuel light came on, but the gauge read 1/2 tank...? I figured what the heck I will fill it up. Sure enough, the car was nearly bone dry, and the FP whine stopped once I got fuel in the tanks.

Any ideas? The needle never waves or quits...

Thats because one of your sender's is out. Mine does the same thing, but I dont trust it

The way it works is two 60 ohm sensors in line.. to be more accurate.

              my empty light still works.

hell no im not spending 97$ for a sending unit.

wheres a quickie for removing this part from a junkyard car?

I just looked at like 10 junkyard e30s and Im sure they all had these senders.

its so easy. Get a ratchet, or hammer, and place a screwdriver on the slots. Then just beat screwdriver to rotate the sender around

Of all the things wrong with my E30, this was not one.

Mine works fine, but my temp gauge bonces to hot. If I tap the cluster it will bounce back down to normal. Can't stand it.

So not down to spend 90 bucks. Rather put that towards wheels.

mine i has been broken for the past three years, the sending unit is shot. never ran out just got to pay attention to the mileage. but if anyone knows where to get a replacement one cheap, it would be nice to have a gauge again

I put a late cluster in my early car and it exhibited this same behavior, although the low fuel light worked.

Mine works great. Being in the very hilly area im in, it does fluctuate quite a bit when going up and down hills. It also moves faster between full, half and, 1/4 dashes for some reason. Not sure if thats how it is, but it takes a day for it to move from full to half tank. Then it will stick around 1/2 for a few days and gradually move faster to 1/4. its weird...
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.
