    Well, found what I blew in my M20 Turbo (pics) and questions

    After taking out the head finally I found that my head gasket blew, looks like the head is intact(hope so) looks like the 6th cylinders is the only one that blew here some pics

    Notice the 6 cylinder is like washed and looks clean comapred with tother ones,!

    Guys, give some tips or opinions, now that I have down the head, what I should do with it?

    I will put all new seals. But my question is, should I do the 5 angle valve job? keep in my that my m20 is turbo, don't know if doing this will help in some.

    Also, I'm thinking in port and polish the ports....what about this? will help too?

    I heared a friend of mine if you do the angle valve job, you have to be carefull with the temp of the engine, if exeeds you can easily blew the valves, this is true?

    And finally, I will put the bigger head gasket to drop some the CR. my question is, can I take out a bit of material from this part where my finger is, to create a bigger chamber??

      I personally believe that the design of the intake manifold puts cylinder 1 and 6 in a condition where to inherinatly run lean. My reasoning is this, air has mass just as anything else does and so it doesnt want to change its direction without a "struggle". So in a forced induction case, this air is moving by quite fast shoots through the TB and most of it hits the back of the intake manifold before despersing sideways down the runners to 1 and 6. I had thought this before but have seen 2 cases of blown headgaskets where its been either both 1 and 6, or just one or the other. Then again, i could be completely wrong. Someone needs to fab up a custom intake plenum!

        in the first pic it looks like to hands holding the head. exhaust manifold looks like palms and the intake manifold looks like fingers.

            I wouldn't mess around with cutting into the cumbustion chamber, unless you know exactly how thick the material is. You risk cutting into a coolant passage, or weakening it eventually creating a leak.
            I would rely on a thicker head gasket, and dished pistons if I were you.

              according to corky bell using a thicker head gasket is the worst way to raise compression

              quit playing with gaskets and get you block o-ringed or at least get a cutting ring head gasket

                The m20 only has 8.8 compression! It is an ideal platform for a turbo. All this BS about thicker head gaskets, o-ringed heads, head studs, etc, blah blah blah is ridiculous. It just isn't that complicted. A totally stock motor, with a properly setup system will perform reliably and produce huge power.

                We are about 3 weeks away with the 325i. We are doing absolutley nothing to the engine. We'll have real data when we are finsihed.

                    No, do not remove material from there. The result will be poor atmization of fuel.

                      Ok, guys, I decided not to do anything in the head except to change the seals and valve service, niether anlgle valave job and port-polish.

                      I need soon back my BMW in the road! There is no time to wast in mods that probably I won't notice or tests to do. :D

                        Thicker gasket doesnt raise compression, it lowers.

                        I told you it would be headgasket!

                        Do nothing to head, just change valve seals, check all the head components if they are in good shape and not worn. Copper gasket is like impossible to fit on M20, I tried two but nothing worked even on o-ringed head, and studs, just copper spray the original gasket, wait for couple of minutes to dry and slap it, that should make original gasket little stronger.
