OK. You really don't have a clue or actually plan on doing this, do you?

A rear mounted transaxle with a torque tube behind a LS in your E30? Really? It's PLENTY of work just putting a GM engine and trans in with all the associated mods, it might be easier to just weld your E30 vert body onto the 944 floor pan but i'm not sure if it is a very good idea...

          the car would be good.
It's an 85 lb difference and the rest is power. e30s are tough, verts notsomuch stiff, but nothing that cant be fixed or would be very harmful to the car...
besides, it's a DD vert you wont be fucking shit up at the track. Unless you build it for that.

The thing is, people get obsessed with HP and TQ numbers. 90% of what makes a car fun is qualitative, not quantitative. There becomes a point where more hp does not always equate to more fun and it's not really usable, you can't drive the car all out. Remember, there will always be someone faster, so if your just trying to out do people, you're never gonna be happy.
Have you thought about a 24v swap? Much easier and keeps the characteristics of the e30. Well documented swap, reliable, good gas mileage, very smooth and revs up quick. Faster than most cars on the road and just looks and feels right in an e30.
a well thought out articulate reply.
you make some good points and raise some interesting questions.

An extra 85lbs up front is about like having a 110lb passenger in the front seat ... the only guy on the planet that would notice the difference is Michael Schumacher.
I disagree. It is pretty easy to notice additional weight over the front axle of an E30. 110lb in the passenger seat is certainly noticeable, but additional front/rear weight can certainly cause the car to react differently.

Initial turn in, weight transfer rear/front under heavy braking, all those things do change.

I agree it can be dealt with, but to say its unnoticeable is certainly a stretch.

I can tell a difference in nose weight on our M30B35 Chumpcar compared to my M50B25 Pro3 Car.

I think he means you can't feel the difference when doing burnout in a highschool parking lot or throttle steering over fences in the countryside.

Is it 85lbs on the front wheels or 85lbs total weight gain? I can't imagine a t56 is the same or lighter than the factory trans and weight at the middle of the car isn't quite as bad.
