Eurospeed, thanks for the write-up. I'll attempt it myself. Still wish there was an E30'er around me to help. Oh, well.
Got a estimate. Does this seem ok?

We charge $112.85 at my dealership... and that is totally fair for this area, all independants charge the same amount or more, and the FORD Dealer is $130/hr. San Fran has the highest prices I have ever seen for a dealer...'88 M3.2 S54 Lachssilber/Black

Jeff is right. Locally I wouldnt call those bids rapes at all. The IM gasket is a hair high but the rest are reasonable. I mean Josh is saying 3 hours for him and that is probably what it books at so its all dependent on their labor rate. If you dont wanna pay the fine you gotta get dirty.
Dont expect a discount from a dealer for working on an E30. Their techs arent trained as well in it and they dont really want to be working on old peices of shit anyway. They prefer the new cars which are cleaner and the jobs usually just involve breaking a few clips to remove something and then just charging you for new clips to reinstall.Im now E30less.

As for everyone that's screaming about having a shop or dealer do it for them, take note of this: not everyone still lives with their parents. A lot of us live in apartment complexes and such, and don't have easy access to a garage. Most landlords frown on working on your car in the parking lot.

Unless you have access to a place like http://www.painterslane.com/ to go to, you pretty much have to go to a shop and have them do it.Current Cars2014 M235i2009 R56 Cooper S1998 M31997 M3Comment
