    190e cosworth question

Idk if this goes here or off topic but let me start.

    here is the story......

so Im driving to school looking for parking on the street and out of the corner of my eye i spot a 190e cosworth and im like "No Way, what luck SOB got that." so i take a closer look and it looks like a chick ownes it and then im like a bigger "NO WAY."
I also noticed that it was auto so a red flag went up as now im thinking... may be its just a cosworth kitted 190e with a 24v badge.

So the next week(today) im driving along and i see the car and i immediately pull up behind it and get out. Low and behold it was a chick driving it, and i asked if i could by the car and she was had a look on her face like "what.. why would you want to buy this." so i gave her my number and she said her dad would call me.

    but my questions are....

did any cosworths come into the US in auto?

    and

what do you think the max is i should offer or what are the auto worth ?
im going to be pushing for 500$ to 1000$ or trade for my 91 4 door.

i bet the father doesnt know what a cosworth is because hes letting his daughter drive it.

    its in 7 or 8 /10 condish.

pics will be provided as soon as i pick the car up or get declined on buying it.

I've seen a clean 190e cosworth with automatic (it was an option apparently) on local classifieds going for $5k.

                    This.

Perhaps a website like 190rev would be a better source of information about these cars than, you know, an E30 forum.

I'm sure a.) it's $1k for a reason, b.) you won't be able to get it for $1k, c.) you'll very easily dump several grand into it before realizing many parts are NLA and that you were better off keeping the "run-of-the-mill" E30, or d.) any combination of a, b, and c.

If you can get it for a steal and not destroy your M3 fund then hell why not. I got a buddy with one, granted its a stick, and it was decently fun to drive. Since then he sold it for a decent profit and bought an S4

An automatic 190E 16v in ok condition with high mileage will go for $3-5k. No way you're getting it for $1-2k, unless the girl is brain damaged.

The 16v is a great car and they can be bought cheaply compared to an M3. But building one properly will not cost you significantly less than an M3.

Buy it! My parents had one, the only reason they got rid of it is because the auto transmission and a couple of other things went out.

Also don't the cosworth's use a getrag 260 for the manual transmission? If so, easy swap.

The manual trans is a Getrag 265 C/R Dogleg...like the euro M3. I would have to get a manual 190e, the difference is significant...especially on those cars.
