    Moar Carbon!

    Take note BMW!

"the Carbon is expected to use a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine with 225 PS (166 kW / 222 hp). This could enable the lightweight model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than six seconds."

That would be pretty awesome if VW actually built it...wonder how much extra it would be though.

That's what I'm wondering. I don't know much about carbon fiber, but I don't think it is cheap.

Still, I hope they pull it off and other car companies start taking note.

IIRC my OEM hood weighed 46lbs. My MA Shaw CF hood weighs 12lbs. ($950) That's 34lbs. removed from right over the front wheels.

In removing the a/c system, compressor, condenser, fan, evap. and lines I shed another 70lbs... You feel a difference immediately.

I sure could use 34lbs gone over my front wheels with that heavy M30 up there...

OEM hood weighs 37lb and Shaw's FRP hood is 12.8lb.

Why is farbin kaiber so expensive anyways?
I don't think the prices of cf composite have gone down much over many years and I don't know why.
Or is the forming itself slow and expensive? I saw a docu about McLarens MC12 which has a CF "tub" and they found a (secret) way to make them fast. Probably not fast enough for Golf production numbers though.
