    German Engineering or Italian Design?

Well R3v, I've been looking for a 318is for a long while, still have not found a stock one that wasn't blown into the sky for price range. But as I was browsing good old Craigslist I found one of my other long time favorites, maybe even more so then the E30. I had found an Alfa Romeo GTV6 for sale in decent/average condition for 3500$, I was thinking of bringing him down to maybe 2800 at least for extra money for repairs and removing dents... Or for a set of Corbeau Sport Seats to replace the normal seats in it.

    Alfa in question: http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/3262453758.html

So r3v, wait for M42 car, or get this sexy Italian into my garage?

If you know anything about Alfas please tell me what they cost in comparison to an E30 for maintenance, upgrades, parts, etc.

    That's kinda ugly IMO...

    I'd wait for m42.

I love, love, love the GTV6. With that said be prepared for higher than E30 costs and headaches. With that one being in that condition it will definitely take some work. Those cars have a community and the coolness factor is definitely up there. I want to own one someday.

I guess its an Acquired taste but I think they are pretty cool looking for a hatch.

Rear end throws me off a little, but definitely interesting.

There aren't many well done up examples, but they do have potential. 86 and 87 are the best years to get though.

I sell parts for these. Well, not really for these because nobody makes parts for these. But they are kinda cool. Just know what you're getting into... $900 clutch for example.

Def more rare than the E30. If your into it, I say go for it! You can always save up and buy an E30 in the future. I paid $1320 for mine and its very clean. Auto for DD tho.

i love alfas i probably would have bought one if i had a another car to drive while the alfa is broken that said that car is rough you should be able to find a clean car for around 4-5 thousand ( in ca at least) any rust is serious rust on these cars , the motors are great though , and there will be a point where you will be driving home at night and all the lights will shut off , but alfas drive well , look amazing , the earlier models are built pretty well , but in this case i would wait for an m42 car

Damn looked at cost to own for a year. About 1200+.... Nvm about that idea. E30s are much more affordable lol. In that case I need someone to sell their m42 car for a reasonable price.

I mean comon people. A 198k 318is completely stock in ok condition doesnt fetch 4.5k anywhere...

Alfas are so pretty. I absolutly love the Brerar, but anyting from them in the last 5 ro so years is just beautiful( except the Mito...but even that is bad...).I wish I could bring a Brera back with me. Anyway, as everyone said Alfas are great to look at but if you want a car that will run then get an E30.

The GTV-6 is one of my favs... The sound of the motor is awesome and the rear center mounted brake disc is unique... It will cost a bit to maintain but these are old cars just think of it as a car payment as you're fixing it up. Personally I'd choose it over the 318is, most people won't even know what it is really. Cool factor for sure.
