    Buying Parts Over-seas

    All -

Does anyone have any experience with purchasing parts from over-seas and having them shipped to the States?

Any particular company /shipping agent / method?

I am looking to restore a rare to the US but plentiful around the world vehicle and was hoping to be able to take advantage of the cheap out of country resto parts.

Any help is appreciated, just started looking into it

Depends on where you get your parts from and how much you are planning on shipping.

Not all parts out of country are cheaper by the way. Parts from Japan have gotten worse due to the crappy exchange rate.

I bought a tranny off german ebay, shit came back cracked the seller didnt answer back.

Went and bought another item from another seller on german ebay, and guy tells ebay that he sent it. Then they asked him to prove it with tracking and and he didnt answer back to ebay so they gave him 7 days to answer back or refund will be made.

      I'd becareful..

Foreign E30 forums will be your friend if you don't want to pay "the ebay premium". The only time a part gets posted on ebay (in the UK for example) is after it has been for sale for a long time on the forums (usually a good reason for not selling on their) or they know it's rare to someone (ie: smilies). That being said, the forum I recommend is E30zone.net. They speak real English and most of the guys have no problem shipping overseas. Just make sure they use an actual carrier, not the Royal mail. The time difference is 2 weeks instead of 2 months. ;)

I received a credit from Paypal in '07, for $13.27 for "exchange rate compensation". It was for some parts I bought off Ebay from a wrecking yard in the UK. Apparently there was a mis-understanding somewhere, but I didn't have to complain, it happened automatically.

I've bought lots of stuff on germany ebay. just make sure you ask if they'll ship to the states, and how much. most of them will.
