Im getting an OEM glass from LBV today.

On a semi related note. I had my car broken into on my e90. Driver side door window. Had a guy come up with a replacement, chinese glass. Clipped in but the curvature of the glass was incorrect therefore motor did and would not go up beyond halfway.

Ended up buying brand new window from Germany through Tischer. Fit like a dream.

They might look the same until the sun shines right onto your windshield...There is a big difference between US glass and Chinese glass. It is called Quality Control.

QFT. I tried the "go get one from the yard and put it in" method after I had the car painted. I believe that piece of glass is still against the side of my garage, split right down the middle.

I don't know what's in there now, but it's not Chinese. The installer I ended up using was adamant about not using that.

Also, I have an OEM windshield on the side of my garage. One crack. Free for pickup.

Nope, just shows your intellect on things.

My grandfather and dad have both combined 60 years working for PPG making glass. I recall one of my dads friends coming over and talking about when PPG sent him to China to work with them. He was saying the biggest thing was the quality control, and how bad it was when they made thier glass.

Yes i know thats a stab at me... But hey! Watching a 16yo trying to spread his wisdom and advice is pretty laughable.

EDIT: Not all young guys on here bad. In fact there are some cool ones like Pantless! Eventhough he spends too much time on the internet lol :P

Meh, all I said was that I'd personally prefer OEM. Not sure how that's spreading wisdom or advice.

But if you're referring to that other first car thread I was just a butthurt little fucker since the OP is an awesome dad.

I'm referring to the whole forum, not just these two threads. And as you can tell with your user title, you have caught the attention of other admins and mods before me with your posts. Most could care less if you just want an OEM windshield. Well japandrew would probably love you for it lol. But overall, most of your posts make us go

I had a PPG windshield installed a couple years ago. Dont know where it was made, but its got a few waves in it. Doesn't bother me too much since their not right in front of my face.

Does that mean I am super awesome for picking out my own title?
Guess it pays to be super awesome and friends with most of the mods ;)
                              JParker <3

I would rather brand new PPG glass(installed lots at the shop), but I have used OE from parted cars because it was free both times. Crack free and zero damage both times, not always the case though as mentioned before.

I know you have good intentions LBV, but sometimes you need to sit back and learn a thing or two before spouting off. PPG has been around for a long ass time, makes some of the best glass(better than 20yo BMW glass!). It is also the ONLY paint my Uncle uses to spray in the shop. They can mix whatever color you desire.

The forum is not about post count or who chimes in first. It is about sharing experience and soaking it in. So try the latter instead for a few years. You will be surprised the level of shit that is not thrown at you.

<3 Thanks Brandon :D. You live and learn I guess. I know I'm better than when I first joined, but I do say stupid shit sometimes and post a bit too much. I try to mainly help out with things that I do know though like detailing and such..but like I said, I don't always think shit out.
