If we had cupholders...

Java Grip. Company is out of business, but it holds my thermos mug or any fastfood drink of normal size.

I went the E46 console route. Right now it's crudely set in place. All I have to do was trim to the back to form over the trans tunnel and drill a hole to screw into the factory E30 mount. Double sided tape keeps the front secure for now. I have no arm rest with it so it looks a bit out of place but the cup holders work perfectly. Planning on molding it in a bit more and mounting it more securely this spring.

I don't really know what car it came out of, I just found it in a 2002 failed project at the pick and pull yard. I found out that there is just enough room under the ashtray for the pull out cup holder so I measured everything out, reinforced and superglued the edges and was done in about 2 hrs. Holds my drinks nicely no problem doesn't fit huge drinks but I don't mind.Leave a comment:

This is true.Originally posted by RUFFLZlol I guarantee that if u.s. e30's came with cupholders and euro ones without, we would all be opting for a delete in one way or another.

I don't want cupholders, but I've always thought a nicely done E36 center console swap was the way to go. With good fitment and matching colours it looks factory installed, not like an afterthought Pep Boys bolt-on.Leave a comment:

Well back when the e30 was made there weren't as many differences between euro and us model bmws, just stuff that was necessary by law at the time like diving board bumpers, side reflectors, and stuff like that. Look at the e46, in the US we got cupholders, and in europe they got what we call a "euro tray" in the center console where the cupholders would be. In europe it's not as common to drive around with drinks and multitask in the car, when you're driving, you're just driving nothing else. Same thing with ashtrays, even with the e30s the euro ones got different kind of "open" tray that goes there instead. I have one in my e30.Leave a comment:

Real drivers cars don't have cupholders. E30 is all business.
Plus, no cupholders is cool and euro!Leave a comment:
