does this sound like a good or bad deal...?

i have done a lot of readign here, and e30tech. im selling my mk6 GTI to get out of a payment for awhile. A friend of mine has a 318is that he said he would part with

    1991 318is

motor has about 15k on rebuild ( M42B18 ) all new:

    -intake manifold
    -head gasket
    -bearings
    -plugs
    -plug wires
    -chains
    -guides
    -cams
    -lifters
    -head bolts
    -oil pump
    -oil pan
    -fuel pump
    -water pump
    -new spare head
    -borla exhaust

    -fk full adjustable coilovers
    -new control arms
    -new clutch
    -USS short shifter
    -4.10 LSD recently serviced
    -respray last year
    -euro trunk recess
    -all red tails
    -skid plate
    -ellipsis headlights
    -euro moldings
    -9.5/10 Tan leathers
    -M3 shift knob

    -16x8.5/9.5 chrome'd faces, polished lip'd BBS RS'
    -stock basket weaves.

    hes asking $9,000... i was thinking $7.5-8k

i want to build a set of RF's so i would just take it on the basket weaves.

    a picture of the car-

    thanks for your help guys!:p

No rust, quality paintjob and not needing absolutely anything, without any hackjob mods. I'd say 7.5k is good. if hackjob subtract 5,000,000,000.00

yea i haven't seen the car in person in almost a year....but from what i remember the paint job was pretty spotless. if it needs a buff or whatever im not worried about it. I can do that at my shop. the M20 seems to be a strong running motor, just don't wanna feel like im getting a sheet over my head. It would be a daily, but my commute with work and back is maybe a mile and half.

I dunno, $9k seems very steep for a non swap car, even if it does have coilovers and BBS RS. The suspension may be worth $2k, wheels/tires $2k, and the car maybe $3k if it is in decent shape, so that's $7k with the BBS. I'd say $5k on stock weaves max, just because of the rebuild and other fun parts.

yeah i have seen pretty clean M50 cars for around 6-7 and a S52 swap for 8.5.....i told him i would get want it without the RS'. Im waiting on a pending sale with the GTI, was hoping to finally be driving a E30 this weekend, but the guy is "waiting on his insurance company to work something out".

the dude is asking way too much,
but it would help us if you posted more detailed pics.
interior, engine bay, trunk, all sides of car, and undercarriage if possible.

gunna re-do a set... step 15" faces up to 16" and get lips and barrels made. and do brass plated faces and bolts. My wheel project this past winter was a pricing one.

faces/centercaps were stripped, sanded, polished, copper plated, clear coated. every bolt was stripped, copper plated, cleared.
