    Small Trucks

    R3v!

Edit: Interested in information on all small, older trucks.

Thinking about adding another option to the list of vehicles to replace my girlfriend's 1999 Tahoe.

Right now we're looking for a clean E30 or Mk1 Rabbit, but I'm thinking it would be nice to still have a truck, and I've always loved old Nissan's, plus it appears some of them get decent fuel economy.

What can you all tell me about older small trucks?

Eh changed, I'd be interested in any type of smaller older truck that is reliable, and most importantly..

Are there any older small trucks that get decent gas mileage?

I have been thinking the same thing, but all of the older Nissans and Toyotas have racked up a lot of miles. I've been looking at early 2000s rangers, and frontiers. Tacomas are ridiculously overpriced.

My dad has an 01 frontier crew cab 2 wd. I love the size of the truck, but with a V6 & auto, it gets 14-16 MPG driving nice! It does have almost 200k on it and the only major thing it has had done was heads when he went too long past the timing chain replacement.

I have a Ford Explorer Sport Trac, and I love it. It is reliable, but nothing special on gas, 19.9 on the highway at best, better than 15 around town.

I've owned a number of s10s and love their reliability the 4.3l can pull a car when needed and get about 20mpg when driven conservitively, so much cheaper to own than my e30i can't get rid of mine

Recently I've been looking into getting a Nissan hardbody, an old Toyota pickup (T100 or Tacoma) or something of the sort. They do seem to rust into the ground though.

I've owned a MK1 rabbit truck (caddy). If you're looking for something cool and different, I'd look for one of those. Since you kinda seem like you want a Rabbit anyway. THere have been quite a few of them around here for sale lately. Not that you get snow, but they do really good in it since they're front wheel drive. They also get pretty dang good mileage since they usually have a 1.6 liter engine in them. Some are diesel too. You can do a lot to them too.
I think mine was getting around 30mpg on the freeway. But if you're really tall, you won't fit in one very well. I'm 6'1" and all leg. I had to push the seat back as far as it would go and I had to sit way upright. I loved that thing though. I could throw my bikes or snowboards in it and just go.

when Nissan or Yota make a truck that I can hook our horse trailers too and safely move and stop them, let me know .............

Op: really if your looking at older trucks sthe s10 is a great cheap reliable DD but they will not be that much better on fule than the tahoe. I know I have had many a S10 over the years as DD run abouts and we still have a 99 Thaoe as well. Personally if it was me unless the Tahoe is totally worn out to the point it makes no sense to keep fixing it. I would stick with it as your going to be trading over all capability for a little bit more utility whne it gets a little messy.

Datsun 720 bro. Sweet gas mileage, about 22 average. Can haul tons of shit. Good looking and extremely reliable and very simple.
