Okay so I was wondering if anyone has ever been in a similar situation when buying a car.
I sold my Jetta VR6 for some decent cash, on a whim that I could make it 5 hours out to Atlanta and buy a really good looking '89 325i. It was everything I was looking for: Semi-low mileage, 325i, late model, two doors, leather interior. It was even my preferred color, black. All for a decent price! $3500. I had been looking for the right car for months now.
So I ended up driving over to Atlanta with my uncle to hopefully buy the thing and drive it back. We planned to meet at 5, but we waited with no response form the guy until 9 at night. He shows up and explains the title is in both he AND his soon-to-be-ex-wife's name. And she won't let him sign it over.:hitler:
So I look the thing over, the paint is nice, no cracks in the dash, it's still completely stock & even has a full Magnaflow exhaust. Even the damn odometer is still ticking. Not bad! I just wanted to drive her home. However we talked about it and since he's a mechanic at Global BMW :) He can either ship it over here on a truck or just drive it out when the title can be changed to his name.
We talked for a long time and he seemed like a decent guy. He even took the ad down. I'm just getting SUPER anxious because I sold my car that I already really loved and risked it all for this thing! I have a feeling I'll never see it again but that's just me being negative.
Anyone ever take a gamble like this? Did it work out in the end? I feel like buyer's suspense is a common thing. You always picture some dude showing up RIGHT before you and snatching up the car!
