awesome... car overheats in -1deg F weather (UPDATED)

 fuckin A.... i'm drivin home earlier tonight freezin my friggin ass off... finally the car gets up to temp & i got the heater on... i see my temp slightly above normal & think "hmm.... we'll see where this goes". keep on truckin w/ the heat cranked....

creeeepin up... up... up... up.... gets just below the red... almost home, keep goin... fuck it. pull over, kill the engine & pop the hood.... awesome... coolant's super low - as in the overflow tank is almost completely dry...

i sit there a while, freezin my fuckin ass off, waiting for the water temp to cool down. gets almost to the 1/2 way mark, i start it up & turn on the heat...... ice cold. not warm, not warmer than outside.... ice cold (well, colder since it's 0 deg F out  )

shut it down & wait some more... fuck it, i'm almost home... start er up, crank the heat, still nothin, take off as i watch my temp slooowwwly creep back up towards the red. kill the engine doing 60 down the highway... turn it back on as i'm rollin, limp home, shut er down & see steam comin out from engine bay... fuck... pushed it too far

pop the hood, see coolant on the firewall, curse, close the hood, go inside & warm the fuck up

well, good thing i have the day off tomorrow.... this will be fun

i actually don't think it's the t-stat cuz it didn't rocket up quick... it was as low creeping & i was on the highway doin 80 at the time

although the t-stat is easy enough to check, especially w/o any friggin coolant to spill out  just three little bolts & there it is... i'll eat some breakfast, throw on 30 layers of cloths & check it out in a little bit

                    GAHD DAMN IT'S COLD....

well, my t-stat looks intact... so i don't really know what happened since my coolant light didn't go on untill i was pulling in my driveway 15-20 minutes after it started overheating :?

from the looks of the engine bay it looked like the coolant that escaped just came out of the expansion tank or something.. i can't really tell w/o a better inspection... i dunno

i really do'nt know what to do other than fill up the cooling system, start it up & see what happens :?:
