send me your title and I'll ask my dad to register it up here in Oregon and send it back to you
Das ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!

        Dang, that would be awesome.

Does this for sure get rid of back fees? Taking it out of state and then back in?

I don't know I keep my registration in california because of my insurance rates I'm just going off what you or someone said earlier in the thread

you're going to have to smog it immediately when you register it back in California, though, even if you register it in a non-smog area like where I register my car

Well I've heard it several times I guess it would be worth a shot. One problem is the title isn't in my name yet and to get it in my name I need to bring the DMV all those papers I previously mentioned.
Unless its different in Oregon where if he has the california title it can be transferred regardless of other sales. I have the signed title, but like i mentioned earlier its in the PO's name that owned it 2 owners ago if that makes sense. Its still in that guys name, but since he released liability I had to get proof of each sale. Complicated retarded crap

            Hmm....

so you need bill(s) of sale from the previous owner(s)? it's only as complicated as you make it...

Yes and I have those, but to transfer and register here you need smog and insurance too I believe.

I'm wondering if my bills of sale and title will do the trick in Oregon?

Seriously, your situation sucks balls, I hate CA DMV! I'd listen to Matt (MR325) and give the Auto Club a try. You'd be surprised at what they can do.

Well I was reading and people were saying AAA didn't have the power to void fees like the DMV does. Which makes sense

My buddy had a similar situation. He walked into the DMV and said the car is worth less than what it owes. So either they lower the fees and get something or he trashes the car and they get nothing. Slashed fees into half. Good luck man

I stand by what I said. Two years back reg doesn't add up to $700. More like $400.

I would offer to register it in Nevada using my other residence except that the car needs to be brought to the inspection station at the DMV there so that they can look directly at the VIN number and match it to the title. Then after thats done its a pretty simple thing to register it. Although Insurance proof is needed as well. Lake Tahoe /Carson City Area.

Good luck at the DMV ! Just explain the situation and plead with the person helping you. They usually try and find alternatives where possible.
