    disassemblyhelp needed

how do i disasemble the plastic clamshell around the steering column? there's only one screw i can find on the bottom that allows partial disassembly, but then it won't come apart just behind the steering wheel. looks like i need to take off the steering wheel, but it has an airbag.

    TIA

I'm not sure if it is any different on the 318s, but I think there are two screws (1 on each side) connecting the 2 clamshell side together. I think these are set deeper into the plastic. I can double check on my car before I go home and I'll have Greg tell you.

Are you working on an E30? If so there's two screws holding the clamshell together.

You must remove the steering wheel.

Once you do you will see the screws you need to remove.
