School me on being a BMW tech.

Long time bmw fan. Been a tech for over five years. 5 years at an independent shop. 5 months at Toyota dealer as used car tech.Associates of Automotive Science, make 50-80 hrs a week easy if the work is there but not sure if i could pull that working on customer cars.

Anyways. Heard about a job and emailed in my resume, interview scheduled for next Saturday.

What do I need to know to get a decent overview of common issues and maintenance? Any BMW specific helpful info? Tools to buy right off the bat?

    Thanks

oh.. and if it is a dealer... you will probably never do an e36 vanos

guess it depends on the area but around here they dont see much of those "old" cars

I am the only E30 customer at my local dealer since the late 90's.

Curious to know how your interview goes.

                  Yes Dealer, why not?

And i realized it would be mostly newer cars 1-10 years old which is why i am asking what to expect as i am not familiar with them. I feel immersing myself is the best way to learn.

They will send you to school for them. Don't worry.

It's always nice to work on new cars and not turds people drag into indie shops.

I myself am trying to get on at the dealer here for parts. I'm tired of finding shit for 1960's Lincolns, Triumphs, old ass Mercedes, Porsches, etc.

Give me BMWs and I'll show you the world.

Good to know, as long as i get some training, I'm golden. The girl i know who works there saw a mint condition(not sure if there is any other condition) orange M1 come in a few months ago and got a ride in it(cause she's hot). Used to work at a indy shop and got tired of working on junk, that's why I went to a dealer, that and I actually make real money and get beni's at the dealer. Now i just want to be working on cars that interest me, not beige mobiles.
