Dragging racial remarks, slang and innuendo unfortunately discount and devalue your defense argument, regardless of "Austin" is your boyfriend or not.

You become guilty by association, therefore all pretenses pertaining to valid discourse can be rendered obsolete. If you're looking for an actual valid conversation, after some time you found one.

Dragging in ignorance, regardless as to whether it'd be subjective to opinions sake unplugs the forecast to a non-biased and partisan position to all members when your counterpart who experienced the encounter of said traffic infraction was clearly present with you.

I was mid-writting a killer rock love-ballade about the depth and clarity of this thread, which has now been martyred by a smattering of hate spewed verbal diatribe...

I crumbled my papers, set aside my mandolin and bid this discussion adieu.

Farewell fairest jBird, may you irrationally speed among the freeways at your will and pleasure, let not any law or recommendation ever guide you, you cut the path to righteousness.

Who gives a fuck if you were caught by a Cop that outsmarted you.

We drive e30s here and most of us are adult enough to drive sensible. Save it for the track if you want to do better than 10 over. I know I will get a raging PMS reply but whatever. You were speeding, Cops can sit where they want anytime. Even in the middle of the road to slow traffic down for a crash ahead. They are the law.
I am not looking to complain and bitch about my experience. I am not looking to try to get out of the ticket and I don't believe that I shouldn't have received the ticket. However, I am looking for a mature, intelligent discussion on the subject of traffic laws, enforcement, and fines.

But again and again, mature, intelligent discussions are hard to come by on R3V. And they are especially hard to come by when people like you know that I am a female, so I am automatically belittled and demeaned such as with your comment above...

I'm far less scared (as a driver) of the people going ten over as I am passing someone that is starring down at their crotch as if it's the coolest thing since sliced bread.
        Now back on topic...

This is exactly what I would do if I were a cop as well. I believe that this sort of warning would, most often, do just as well at getting people to slow down as giving people speeding tickets. I know that if the cop at least had his parking lights on and I could see him, that I would have surely slowed down and been reminded that it's not okay to speed out there because cops can sit and patrol wherever they want.

        Cya Mr. Burns.

The discussion is about the speed limits and safety of being parked the wrong direction. No one is saying the speeding citation is not fare. The fact that the LEO was fishing for more is outside the bounds of the takedown.

20 over on an empty country road only puts two people in any danger in the event there would ever be a problem. I don't see anything wrong with that. Hench the discussion about getting local governments to change the classification of citations based on the conditions. Is that not the adult thing to do?

I think you've lived in NY too long around too many corrupt cops. Get your Judge Dredd thoughts out of your mind. Cops only enforce the law. The point is to change the laws they enforce.

Police are not bad here in NY, only in small towns from the lack of traffic violations. I got busted for my tint on the outskirts of a small town. My Grandfather was one of the first K9 operators in NYS. I have respect for them. Everyone has a bad day.

You are such an awesome BF, I hope all this response gets you anal. Now go drive your ugly ass e60 off a cliff fucker <3

@Jbird, you are no fun...I wanted an angry response. Thank goodness your BF felt a need to defend you. I just wanted to mess with you, r3v just seems to be lacking noobs to flame lately. I'm outta here/

LMAO, okay, I have to lower myself down to your level for a second. Don't be mad and bitch about your small penis and how you can't afford a newer car such as an e60 and have to take out your anger on others because of this. I believe that this is why most people don't like the new BMW's, because they cannot afford them.

F34r, I am not going to lower myself down to your level and give you what you were looking for. I feel as though I am above all of those immature joking and attacking remarks on fellow R3V members. Unlike you, I can respect other people's opinions and feelings, especially when they are communicated in a mature and intelligent manner. And unlike you, I am not trying to get a rise out of people.

Overall I think cops are fine and they are just doing their job, but I still think it's good to question...
That is a misrepresentation. No one said they love cops. The popular view in this thread is, you egregiously exceeded the speed limit, and you should pay the fine. Sure, it's tangential to your original, edited post, but it still is a valid aside.

It doesn't matter that the road conditions were safe in your eyes to support that speed. They easily were. When you obtained your driver's license, you acquiesced to follow the rules and regulations of the road--not to pick and choose what laws you found just.

Now that you got pulled over, you think this cop laying on the opposite side of the road is some dirty rotten scoundrel that was some type of covert operative who was discriminating against your civil rights, asking where your papers are, where you were, and where you were heading. However, this is standard operating procedure.

If you pick through the snide commentary, there already were some very intelligent points made. You however chose to ignore them in hope there's a breakthrough where someone agrees that your civil rights were violated, and that a cop on the opposite side of the road is unjust.

Austin repeating the same exact thing, boilerplate, was just icing on the cake. You want change? Take it up with your local government, not an online forum of foulmouthed teenagers. Gather signatures on a petition. DO something. You will likely gain zero traction because there are greater injustices in this world than a cop asking you questions exactly as he was trained to do, after already pulling you over for speeding.

I agree with you that I exceeded the speed limit and that I should pay the fine. And I agree with you that I agreed to follow the rules of the road when I got my license. However, I don't agree with your last paragraph here, that "the cop is some dirty rotten scoundrel". I don't believe the cop was doing anything wrong, I was simply asking in the beginning of this thread if it's legal or not for cops or anyone to park on the shoulder of the highway facing the opposite direction with no lights on. I also believe that it is in the cops best interest for their own safety to ask all of those questions to me. When cops ask questions like that, they can "read" you and get a feel for you.

I am very thankful for the people, such as yourself, Earendil, ak-, and slammin who have posted mature, intelligent responses and of which I have not ignored. It's just the people like F34r, travish325, and 10Toes who are distracting and who like to go off topic in their own interest of attacking and getting a rise out of people.

I am not necessarily looking for a change. Like I have said before, I am simply looking for a discussion about traffic laws, enforcement, and fines, why they are there, how they got there, and what people think they mean.
But, I am beginning to that it is not worth trying anymore.
