When I was getting my ears pierced (8 gauge hollow needles) all the tatt artists in there were saying its a pretty tough job, and not a whole lot of money in it.
I've heard it's the toughest state to get a license in. And if you run a respected shop, you'll get a lot of referrals and repeat customers.
The shop can definitely pull in 1-3k per day, especially if you have more than two licensed artists.
my artist gets 75.00 an hour, and works 10 hours a day. he has 1 other artist there which makes less and figure they gotta pay the bills, so figure he makes like 250 a day.
So if ur making $200k + a year...yur telling me ur going to buy an E30
Buy a............ 2004 Porsche 911 T man
I wish you the best..but Seriously don't plan on making figures like that (you will someday)...I'm 23, and I never once estimated how much I $ would actually make. Come this spring I will have a BA in History and a BS in Business Management....Starting grad school for my MBA this May...Still have no idea on how much I will make. I am in line for a $30k /yr. job ,(Just finished an internship with the corp.) and will balance working all day and going to grad school classes at night. When I get my MBA I will quit work there and move to West Palm Beach Fla. where I was born.( Well atleast I hope that plan happens) Regardless I am moving down south prob Georgia or south Fla (south only)
My brother, who just turned 18..is going south already. He's a Sr. in prepratory high school ...headed to Savannah College Of Art & Design to major in industrial design for 4 years + 2 more for his masters (same major) He is a very skilled artist and recently took home The NEPA fine arts fiesta award for one of his works.(The cool thing is that his one other work (titled "speed") shown in the fiesta exhibit is of a E36 M3 coming at you in a Blurr..So it's cool he likes drawing automotive stuff.) He is also playing basketball for Savannah too, so that's a good reason for me to visit more than the "usual" times...look around for a place to live/work..etc.etc. My career in bball is almost over come the end of feb. I'll be sure to see his games as he sees mine. To end a long rant....
Go for whatr you LIKE, set goals, and just become successful.
Good luck Josh 8)

Even if I become a multi-millionaire...
I will have other cars too, of course. But I will always own an E30.
I'm not setting things by those figures, trust me. Like I said, those are figures for a whole shop, not just one artist. I will be making a lot of money though. And the better I get, the more I'll make. And I'm going to be one of the best.
If I made that much money, sign me up for a 911 GT3.
haven't you heard Stu, the elise is coming to the US @ 1975lbs and 190hp with a 6 spd box. Put some money into that toyota engine and you'll have a car unable to be reckoned with :D
I guess I'm just partial to cars that I never see on the road. haha, fucking La Jolla
I know nothing about the Tattoo industry but judging from what I have heard and seen anything over $40,000 a year would really suprise me. $60k + would shock me.
But like I said, I know nothing about the tattoo industry.
Another perk will be getting cute girls to take off their tops for titty tattoos. Maybe you can convince them to give you a boob fuck first?
Eric
