Peterson Auto Museum has opened the basement vault

The basement of the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is the subterranean parking structure in the recurring dream of automotive enthusiasts young and old. You know—the one where you exit the department store head down, fumbling for car keys as the scenery shifts to a chiaroscuro of concrete and fluorescent lights, and out of thin air appears a collection of vehicles decadent enough to make a sheikh weep. This one, however, is quite real, and perhaps the best-kept secr…

Folks that live in California should try to visit they don't offer tours downstairs often.

All the pictures just make me sad that these cars are just sitting, and not being driven by people that put work into them haha.

This is how I always feel when I see things like this. I totally understand the economics of it and the extreme rarity of some museum cars, but it just hurts to see machines built for one purpose to be nailed to the ground and polished instead.

i've never been to peterson and i live 5 minutes away. I'd rather see a car sit in a museum then get wrecked in a movie. Now that hurts my feelings.

Holy crap, definitely going to plan a trip over there with a few friends.

Went there for the first time about 3 years ago and loved it.

That last Ferrari, what is it? Not a 212 is it?

                    There's a shop here restoring a 212 Vignale Coupe.
