opinions needed! keep sedan or go vert?

We just obtained a bronzit vert roller. Body is straight except for the right rear quarter which has a dent from the previous owner hitting a curb. We replaced the subframe a while back. Other than that the body is in excellent condition, no rust, just needs a respray. The interior will be mint once I swap in my crack free dash. The customer blew the head gasket, and after we repaired it, we found low compression across the board, and the customer does not want to spend any more money on it, so they will sign the car over to us and call it even.

My current sedan has no rust, but every panel has some damage, but worst is the right quarter, which is much worse than the vert. It also had a crappy respray somewhere down the line that is now peeling.

Very has 150k on the clock, sedan has 250.

I am hesitant because I prefer hard bodies, but I'm looking for more opinions. Mind you, only one car can live. We're either parting out the vert, or i will swap my drivetrain and fun parts, then part out the rest of the sedan. What would you do?

If you have a daily driver, I would do up the vert. I prefer the verts. This will allow you to keep the best from both cars, make them into one, and sell/part out the other.

That's the plan, one of them is getting parted to recoup the time and money we have into the head job. So if I keep the vert, it will get my 3.73 LSD, g260, and I'll be freshening up my m20 with new rings, bearings, and gaskets, plus a engine bay strip and paint while we're in there. I'm leaning towards the convertible just because it is in much better condition overall, so it will take less work to bring it up to par. 5 speed, turbo vert kinda sounds like fun.

My only concern is the rear quarter. I'll take some pics when I head back to the shop.

Keep sedan. I sold mine for a vert and still regret it.

Sedan. Who says it has to be in great shape to be fun? Mine has scratches and dings all over but it's just a better, more fun car to drive than our vert.

Sedan. Since you have the sedan and presumably like it there is no choice. After all how many E30 front seats and how many wheels can you fit inside a 'vert?

I would keep the sedan. One, you already know the car and it's quirks. Two, there is no extra work involved to do so. Three, you can use some of the parts from the vert to fix yours and sell the rest.

Keep the sedan and boost it. Vert can go, but grab what you can off it and junk it.

Work doesn't bother me, I have my own shop. Honestly I'm having a hard time writing of the vert because it is much better condition to start with than the sedan.

How are the convertibles anyway? I was getting close to the time to go through and install new bushings all around, as well as pulling the engine to paint the bay and freshen up. I have all my turbo parts, but I am waiting until I take care of the suspension and engine first.

My dilemma, is why put all that time into a car that needs the whole body gone over when I put into a cleaner, lower mileage car?

I love the sedan, but the more I think about this the more I think I'll build the convertible. I can handle anything mechanical, but my body skills are limited.

Anyone else who has experience care to chime in? I am listening, and I'm truly torn. For someone who doesn't put much weight into sentimental value, this sedan has tons of it.

Does the vert have plastic bumpers?
I would keep the sedan. Just swap out some parts that you think the sedan needs or just part out the vert. But then again its your opinion, do what you feel is right.

keep your sedan. Hell, i'd prefer a sedan over my coupe body. The extra doors are always good and it's a solid car.

Negatives on verts: generally they're rattly, leak and are not secure. They're also louder on the road.
They're great on the really nice days, which around here is maybe 3 days a year, but the rest of the time a sedan is preferred.
                            I've had 2 verts, 4 sedans, that's my opinion.

Tough call. I'm inclined to go vert, particularly if its a late one. They are trimmed much better than any 4 Dr and u get the best of both worlds with a hardtop...or so I've heard. That being said....since u r on the east coast I don't know if you'd want to drive a vert year round without a hardtop. I am biased however...I have never owned a 4 door e30 and don't particularly care for them.
