How to check if my e30 is rusting under the undercoating?

If it's been winter driven where they salt the roads i.e. like in Ottawa, Canada where I am from...........I would get under the car with an awl or srewdriver and start poking around all the seams, rockers wheel wells etc....spend like an hour and go over it really well before putting a lot of effort into that chassis......that rubber will hide A LOT...e.g. where the rear springs sit in the body on the rear looked perfect....when I started peeling away the rubber...CANCER!!!!!!!!!!!!!...lots of other places as well...under the pedals for sure check, rocker underside seam to body...POKE THAT RUBBER....... the nose peice under the radiator

It's the F***ing salt though up here....if you aren't in a salt zone ...different story

The drain plugs? About 6" in diameter? Replace them. My PO jacked the car on mine. I tore out the carpet to find them not even in their holes. Worst case POR-15 them. Thats the friend of 2002 owners.

Yeah thats the ones. I dont know what the hell you need to drain out of your car though.... If it gets filled with water I think your effed either way.

i think its from when they dip the chasis in construction in the big bathtub of primer.
