what would you guys pay for this 1987 325e

    It says "325" on the trunk. When there's no "i" or "e" suffix, it's a 325e. That means it's got a 2.7L engine.
    2-door coupe
    5-speed manual transmission
Power: 4-wheel disc brakes(antilock), steering, windows, locks.
    Manual sunroof
AC - yes, it works. All the vent cables work, too.

White with tan vinyl interior. I replaced the door panels with black ones from another 325 back when I planned on replacing the entire interior with black, but I never got around to it. I still have the original tan panels which of course come with the car.

I've replaced almost everything under the hood (with OEM parts) except the engine itself! And I've done all of these in the last 2 years. It's got new:
    -TIMING BELT*
    -ALL belts/most hoses
    -Water Pump
    -Thermostat
    -HEATER CORE*
    -WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR*
    -Starter
    -Alternator
    -Coil
    -Coolant overflow tank
    -Leather shift boot
    -Leather shift knob
    -Both Front Seat Belt Anchors
    -Windshield trim
-Front grill pieces (all three), PLUS blackout piece for middle "signature grill" piece.
-Distributor cap & rotor (I have these NEW, but they are not installed).
    -Sunroof panel

    * = High-dollar repairs. Ones you'll be thankful YOU don't have to worry about in the future!

    NON-OEM NEW PARTS:
    -High-performance ignition wire kit
    -spark plugs
    -Radiator
-Rear three window tint ( flawless , less than 6 months)
-Windshield - brand new--no pits at all!
    -Hood & Passenger Door paint
-$850.00 Stereo System: JVC AM/FM/CD/AUX deck with 2 USB ports and removable faceplate, two 300w amps, 4-spkr system AND bazooka 2x10" subwoofer box in trunk. Trust me--your neighbors will hate you.

    I have all receipts.

    USED PARTS:
-Sport package three-spoke steering wheel (I still have the original one--you get that, too)
-Black door panels (I still have the original tan ones, in GREAT condition--you get those, too)

    ISSUES:
-The odometer stopped on me at 168652. Typical e30 issue. I would estimate I've put maybe 30K on the car since then so at most it's got about 200K on it.
-Time for a valve adjustment job. It taps.
    -Time for new shocks/bushings.
-The bucket seats are weathered & cracked--typical of a car this age. They're comfortable, and with seat covers(included) you'd never know the difference. Back seat is flawless.
-There is no dashboard undercover on the driver's side. No big deal, it just looks funky seeing the wiring.
-The driver's seat back cable is broken, so tilting it forward requires pliers.

i took it to my mechanic to have a quick look at it. he didn't do anything to in depth (it was for free) but he said the brakes are a little messed up. (the pedal goes down along way) and the abs light is on.

-look for rust in the battery tray and antenna tray (right and left recesses in the trunk)
-look for rust under the rocker pannels
-look at the suspension components to see if they are worn out and cracked (control arms, tie rods, control arm bushings, sway bushings front and rear, trailing arm bushings, shock mounts)
            -check for steering rack leaks
-check condition of brake fluid and lines
-check condition of power steering fluid and coolant
-try all the electronics to try to find electrical gremlins
-look at the quality of the stereo job
-listen to the car as you drive at different speeds for tranny/guibo/center support bearing/diff/cv axle/wheel bearing issues

            get some interior shots

etas are generally less desierable than 318's or 325i's, so remember that. it can be argued that coupes cost the same as sedans, but i think they can cost slightly more. 5-speed is mre desireable than autos.

If rust free (and otherwise mechanically sound) that $2k sounds fair to me, especially if he has all the records for the recent work.

Even if it needs a new slave cylinder or brake lines to fix the soft pedal, he's already saved you a significant chunk of maintenance cost vs. buying a neglected e30 for $1k.

I made that mistake with my current e30, it was cheap, but neglected. Now I have so much invested in it that it is impossible to consider selling it. I'd have saved a crap load of money had I waited and bought a cared for example.

                $2k sounds pretty fair.

There is one in similar condition around here with cloth sport seats for $1500 Although I'm sure the paint on that one is better since its a CA car. However it doesn't need shocks or any suspension work. I'd say 2k max.

If it comes with the roof rack then you got a pretty good deal.
