I decided to try and make some wood shift knobs. There are no machines that i am using. I am just using a wood knife and a a grinder with a metal polishing disk on it. im going to make 3 sizes small, medium and large. i started by making a large one. I will be staining this one cherry and clear coating it. I was just wondering what you guys think. Im not done with this first one still have to make it skinnier and sand it. heres a couple pics and sorry they are shitty.

I would definitely taper the bottom to meet the boot if I were you. Also, the lumpiness really bothers me, personally. I would try and see if I can find a rod of appropriate diameter that is already nice and round and then work with that. It'd save you tons of time and effort and it'd look better too.Comment

I would go to value village and cut a leg off a old wooden chair before I used that flinstones looking logg shifter. Use a lathe and a really nice dark wood next time.
