Its time for a new E30

Im needing to move on to a new E30. What im debating is weather to get a 325i, is, or iX or a 318iS.

I want a 318iS because of the MPG and the DOHC feature. and its the lightest E30.

I want the M20i for the tuning capabilities. Cheaper than the 318iS

I love both cars but what one should I get?

I have heard a lot of good things about the 318iS and it is a vary solid car. Not to mention the most up to date E30.

Its hard to be picky, just buy the nicest one you find regardless of what model it is.

+1, just find one without rust and a solid drivetrain. Job done.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

                    I've had a 325ix and a 318is and I prefer the 318 more

To add to the topic. I went through 3 different e30's before I ended up with my current 318is. The lack of torque going from an M20 was difficult at first. But honestly after a couple of weeks I fell in love with the rev happy motor and nimble feeling this car has. I like the "drivers car" feel of the 318is. And unless you are truly set on going turbo M20, there isn't a single problem swapping from M42 to a 24v motor down the road.

so far the 318iS is winning it lol and if i do a 24 valve swap it would be the S54.

Don't swap an M42 for 24v. 318is are rare as it is, and the mechanics would be thrown off by the heavier front end. Swapping a 24v in would no longer make it a 318is because it would take away the "318is-ness" from the 318is

If you want to do a swap car down the road; 325i/iS

Stop! How old are you? I have not had to convert binary since 1980s.
