    $4000 & stock 325is

What would be the most strategic/sensible options:

    1. Aesthetics (interior/exterior)
    2. Drivetrain (motor+tranny swap/turbo)
    3. Suspension

It's a DD, but i want best of both worlds more go & more show! So, what should I do 1st?

      Boom.

Nothing like driving a stock, well maintained e30. Really, nothing like it.

fix everything that has to be fixed first. A perfectly running, reliable, stock E30 is a 10x better car than an S50 swapped POS that you don't feel comfortable with driving far distances. there is NOTHING like a perfect, stock E30. nothing.

EDIT: wow in 60 seconds 3 people said the same thing.

Maintenance, then, depending on your taste, a fantastic sounding stereo.

I gotta have great tunes in a DD. I *might* be a bit biased in my taste.

I cannot imagine a road trip or my daily commute without tight, clean, loud-yet-articulate sound.

          Again, *might* be biased.

          Enjoy!

I guess I have a hole burning in my pocket so to speak. To clarify, it does need to be painted, seats are not fully intact (front & rear), & i really wanted 2 atleast have a manual trans. I just can't get around wanting more and more out of it.

Thought about this and the market locally is dry and that's putting it lightly. I will keep looking before I start modding...

Guys here DD turbo'd cars & swapped cars. If you do everything right it will be reliable! I'd personally do an m60 swap + 6spd or an ls1 if I had the funds :p

wow, I always thought a stock E30 was a terrible car to drive. I need a stiffer suspension, and a decent set of wheels to even feel comfortable in an e30.
and a swapped car not being reliable???? I would leave the M20 in it though.

and yes, a nice stereo system is also a MUST have in ANY car.

^ 4k is going to be a tight budget for something like that.

How many DD turbo'd cars by choice....and how many thought it would be cool to turbo their only DD?

Quite a few guys. I DD'd my turbo car my whole senior year of high school. Yeah there were a few issues but that's expected. I only took everything off due to smog. Love Cali's smog laws!

In terms of bang for your buck, I think you would have the most fun per dollar converting to 5speed and doing suspension with a sensible setup(no cut springs or bs).
