    Broke my hood cable

Hood doesnt latch down, cable connected to plastic latch snapped. over 50mph the front lifts off.
I dont want hood pins, (maybe aerocatch)
how do i go about fixing this?

Thank you, i saw the part that i would need, tracking from the hood itself the cable goes through the firewall, so its that half of the entire system that would be replaced.
i believe this means i have to take the dash off again.....

I've never fixed the hood latch but I kinda doubt you would have to take the dash off.

You do not have to remove the dash, I JUST replaced the cable in my car this summer. Took me 30min to do the cable and hood latch in the core support.

You don't have to remove the dash. It's not difficult at all. Just like F34R said. 30 minutes.

Use screw driver. Keep head close to hood while doing so.

Or just listen to the other guys and ignore my post as most do. Actually that's best in this case. Carry on.

Just did it the other day. Not that bad. Worst part was getting the old cable through the firewall. Attach the new one (or pull a rope through) when you pull the old one out. It helps alot!

Good! Haha. Otherwise you're left trying to stuff your face and flashlight in all the wiring trying to find the right spot to push the new cable though

Just use a screw driver. Works perfect every time.

                              had a thought.
when the cable snapped, would this prevent the hood from locking?
read through posts of people couldnt get hood to open without screwdriver raping the grill because the broken handle. wouldnt the hood slamming down engage the locking mechanism.?
