Entry level F30 320i, a new BMW I could see myself buying

So BMW is coming out with a 320i version of the F30. It has a de-tuned version of the 240hp all aluminum turbo 4 banger of the 328i but without the luxury options of the higher-end 328i. These changes subtract over $4000 and 60 horsepower from the base 328i.

Personally, this sounds awesome. The engine, which shares almost all the parts with the higher-end version, should easy re-tune back to 240hp. It has has less weight and none of the options I care less about anyway: no nav, security, leather, wood trim, blah blah. And best of all the sunroof is an option, so I can have more headroom for my tall ass. Still has 17s and 6 speed manual is no extra $. The only option would probably go for is the split fold down rear seats cus that shit is handy. At around $33k this is a new BMW I might actually consider buying.

Meh. Much more interesting is that they said they would bring the 320d over.

Not going to happen any time soon. The US is too much of a slave to petrol to consider such a viable option. It's sad because I would love to see more diesels here as well.

and the effect of globalization on new car prices...my 1988 325ix sold for almost $32,000 new in 1988. That would be over $50,000 in 2013 dollars. So this actually a grand bargain...if it too lasts 234,000 miles and counting!

They are also making this in a 320xi version....very interesting!

"Re-tuning" anything on a new F series BMW is not 'easy'. Possible, but not easy.

                      This.

Im curious what is underneath the covered car. It has an agressive looking front bumper. Is it the M3 or the Msport?

320xi is auto only, of course.

Looks nice, but I spy a steering wheel with an "M", and shift knob with an "M", and some really nice seats with actual side bolsters. Please add an additional $12k to the $33k base price and the 320i you actually want now only costs $1500 less than stepping up to a 328i so you might as well just get the 328i which when you option that out only costs $1500 less than a 335i so you might as well...

Car companies do this for a reason.
