The only issue I have with this engine is balance. 3 cylinder engines are really horrendously balanced. Sure BMW can make a 1.5L 3 cylinder make more power than our 6 cylinder M20s ever could, but they will never make it run as smoothly and as "turbine-like" as a 6 cylinder unless they use really intricate balance shafts. I do like the way it sounds, though. Very meaty indeed. It will be cool to see this engine stateside if it even makes it to these shores.

BMW has been running balance shafts in the 4 cylinders for MANY years now, that would be nothing new.
silky smooth idling motors...... who wants that crap, gimme a nice M20 with a 304 cam and some weber carbs!!!Comment
