Nothing else, I can build a euro car with enough time and money, and in the end it will be nicer then importing one that has been beatin to hell on german roads ;)

I agree or unless you've owned the car. I'm importing my euro model, but I've owned it since 99 so it's maintenance and upkeep have been taken care of and at least the last few years history are known.

most of the time, it will not be worth the costs of it i imagine. 1300 dollars just for shipping to the east coast, and that is no fed. or conv. involved.
better off coming to germany, finding all the parts you want, and shipping them in a container.

With Mike. If you are a veteran and get special privledges then it might be possible but importing one right now might be like pulling teeth.

It would have to be a really rare breed to be worth it.
                Im now E30less.

sorry, but it wont be free my man!! The army will not ship a car back, that they didnt ship here. had friends that had cars back in the day that they bought from the canadian BX-U.S. spec cars, and the army refused to ship it for him!!! It was great, got a really nice Z24 cavalier for 1500, and sold it a week later for 7000.
1300 to ship to S. carolina- budy just sent his 1976 really a 1991, but with a title from a 1976-mini cooper 3 weeks ago. my M3 has a few years to go, and it will be going to chicago even if im staying here longer. fathers 7 car garage!

From what I understand the Army WILL ship a car that wasn't shipped here. They'll ship anything back as long as you haven't already shipped one. You still have to get it at port in the states?

But as its already been stated. There aren't enough differences for a plain e30 to make you want to ship it. Albeit that you can get a mint one here for pennies, there just aren't enough reasons to do it. By the time you get it imported you'd have paid more for it than you could have just built it for. Now..... a rare model like a 323i or touring or m3 is a different story since it would be hard to build those stateside.....

I've said it before.... I am down to go through the process of working with someone to ship a touring. I need someone who is serious and has $$$$ to do it though. No bullshitting allowed. You come at me with well then maybe yada yada..... you can basically forget it. I have too much shit on my plate to go through that. But if you do the leg work of paperwork and arranging shipment I can do the footwork of sourcing a touring.

Shipping/federalizing/CARB testing and certifying/DOT testing and certifying an Evo III and making it legal in California costs the value of the car. Ive gotten quotes from the only few importers willing to do this work in Cali. No one wants to do it. And Im talking about equal to the cost of an under 50K mile example. Theres ways to get around it, but then, why risk it with an Evo III?
