May i suggest replacing you work out old OE subframe bushings with IR's newly redesigned Poly urethane bushings? They only that 5 minutes to put in, and let me tell you have wonderful they are! Yes, replace those 15 year old bushings for pennys on the dollar! How you may ask? With this revolutionary design youll never second guess yourself again!

my M3 has one non-ABS shaft on it right now, cause one exploded last year. and no, the ring from a ABS shaft will not stay on a non-ABS shaft.
hope this helps.
I disagree.
He asked if the ABS shafts would fit on a non-abs car. In my experience, they do not fit. I tried to put an ABS halfshaft on an '84 or '85 325e that did not come with ABS, and the hub got bound up in the trailing arm- not sure but I believe it was the ABS toothed ring- so if you can cut/chisel the ring off, it will probably work.
