    CF sunroofs, who wants them?

after a brief chat with jordan, i figured id go ahead and have these made.

these will be ready in a month to 6 weeks, im having a run of ten made. The stock sun roof is about 8 lbs maybe a bit more, im not sure, but the CF version will be about 1 lbs. It is also in a prime location for weight loss.

Im sure i ahve ten people who want one so the price will be 250 Shipped in the US.

    Thanks,
    Shahe

BTW, feel free to move this, but let it chill here until most people see it :)

why is the sunroof, a prime weight loss spot? is it cause of the high center of gravity or something

IM in let me know when you need the money. As long as it keeps the stock mounts.

WIll this be a fully functional, attach to stock points, useable with crank/power sunroofs or is it a fixed piece?

Sorry for the large text. Just want to make sure people pay attention to the answer.

Making it use stock mounting points shouldnt be hard, the only issue i worry about is how the sunroof headliner attaches to it.

I think 10 is a awfully small run, those will vanish quickly.

              $250 shipped is reasonable.

Would look good, but im not too worried about the whole 8 lbs. of stock roof.

ahh, i knew i was missing info. it will mount like a stock sunroof. and yes, being at the top of the car makes it a prime spot. i wont have pictures untill they are ready, but that will be rather shortly.

Jordan, im only making ten, cuase ive fronted the money and its a mold just for me. I only hae soo much money to put down. Once i make my money back ill have another batch made.

for those of you who are interested email me and ill tell you how to pay and all that goodness.

if you guys have more questions post here.

BTW, no PM's please and also dont ask about other parts, those will be coming up shortly.

I know the stock panel is more then 8lbs. It is significantly more, I'm not sure as to exactly how much.

Someone that has a panel kicking around please weigh it.

Either way, it is heavy, and it cant be any higher above the cars center of gravity.

yeah imagine driving around with an 10 lb sack of potatos on your roof. :)

I'll have to pass on this batch, but maybe on the next one. I need to find a set of wheels first!

Going fast has never been, and never will be about how much HP you have.

It all comes down to your power to weight ratio.

-Jordan, whos e30 has lost over 220lbs.

an 8lb saving on the very top of your car is very different than an 8lb savings on the bottom of your car, especially durring hard cornering.

will it come finished with a clear coat or a jel coat?
will the headliner still mount as normal?
since it uses factory mounts, will it move like factory?

As per the ETK, the stock sunroof panel weighs in at 5.3kg. This is a little under 12lbs.
