    Coolant leak, need help fast

I've had this fixed before just recently and its happening again. I need a way to either plug it up, or how to redirect it to somewhere else. I've researched a lot but I'm still needing help. The engine is an m42.

Nope. If it's easy to you then can you tell me what I need to do for it to stop?

Sorry if I was rude, but it's just kind of apparent that a coolant line should be hooked up to that.

There should be a line near it that must have come off. Hook it up with a hose clamp if its still in good shape, if not get a new one.

        Look into this...

Looks like some people delete that part all together...

When I had a shop fix it they put a rubber crap and a hose clamp over it, and that was only a few months ago. I read people sometimes just plug it up with no ill effects, http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85194 Is there a way I could just JB weld over it and be done with it? I don't mean to sound rash, I'm just tired of the damn thing :hitler:

DO NOT use JB weld to plug it. It will not only leak again, but it would just be ugly and cheap.

I would do as it states in that thread, get a bolt of the right length and thread pitch, with a crush (sealing) washer and plug it.

Take the nippe out that is shooting water and take it to a hardware store and find the pitch and length, get a crush washer and you'll be set

I already tried putting a bolt in it, and I do believe that the inside of it isnt bored out.

Putting a bolt in it how?

You need to unscrew the nipple and then put a bolt in it with a sealing washer

Actually now that I look at it more it looks like the nipple isn't a removable one like other e30s. Its part of the head.

I would get some kind of cap and hose clamp it.

Can't wait for the next thread to be titled somewhere along the lines of "head cooked in awkward spots. Help me again!"

That line was once hooked up to something. Do it right and not worry about it anymore by getting the correct hose and use RealOEM as a diagram to get an idea of what and where it goes to.

That's what the shop had put on it, then it all started leaking again. I really just want a permanant solution.

It looks like some m42'ers delete it for simplicity with no ill effects?

                        Then return it to stock?

I didn't watch the video but I'm 99% sure I know what the OP is talking about. That coolant passage has nothing to do with cooling the head or block. OP, order the hose from blunt tech that comes out of the plastic tube below where that hole is in the head. It's fatter on one end and thinner on the other. Connect that to the hole you're leaking from and the fatter end to the plastic pipe.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Finally found where it needs to be connected to! It was capped off too (with a much thicker rubber cap), and the realoem diagrams weren't helping too much on that front so I had no idea lol. Now I just need to find a hose for it :x Thank you guys so much for putting up with my daft ignorance!
