Best way to ship a tranny?

What do you guys recommend for shipping an automatic tranny about 50 miles? I have a pallet and will strap the tranny down to it.

    Here's the details:

    tranny weighs about 160lbs
shipping from one residence to another (same state)

Can you recommend a company to do this?

    Thanks.

50 miles? Find a buddy with a truck, give him some gas money, and drive the thing there!

It would certainly cost a shitload less, and would be much less of a hassle!

Eurospeed- thanks. I know, that would be ideal but I don't know anybody with a truck right now.

Has anybody had a shipping company come to their home to pick up a pallet?

Or even just as effective, throw that thing in the trunk (if it fits, if not remove the passenger seat and lay down some towels) and deliver it yourself. I did this when I sold a Getrag 260 to someone in the bay area whose E30 gearbox took a shit. Not only did I get my asking price, the buyer spotted me some gas money. The trip was 80 miles (each way).

Most shipping companies will not come to a residence to pick stuff up. And if they did it would cost you far more than the 50 miles worth of gas it would take to do it yourself. Home Depot rents trucks by the hour......

I might end up doing that. I didn't think it would fit. It's a 4hp22 auto and it weighs a bit more than the 260.

Book a rental car online for a one day weekend thing for like 20 bux. Get one of the compacts that the rear seats fold down in.... Throw that bitch in there, ramp the car a few times and call it golden.

160 lbs. Thats less than what most people weigh... You could stick that in the back of a geo metro w/o a problem, you dont need a pickup..
