    Does shifting at idle..

Does shifting at idle wear out your motor slower?

I know alot of people here drive their cars like their grandmother (me too sometimes) and I am curious if you can still get 250,000 miles out of an m20 or m50 while doing this.. granted that you do all the maintenance on time, etc.

I'm gonna say no. You're clear to idle-shift with no contingencies. Don't forget to double clutch.

                Exactly.

All the wear points are still making contact at TDC, rotating assembly, circumference etc. Staying on top of the charcoal canister replacement (~5K) is what really helps.

                  Forget the clutch

Just jam it in there clutch free at idle. Can't hurt anything TBH

Double clutching and not granny shifting helps.

What about shifting with the engine off? I like to sit in my car and make racing engine noises while slamming the shifter around.
I have friends who are EOD bro.

That's awesome. I have friends who make coffee for a living, but you don't see me rocking out a bunch of lattes
