So ive found a convertible e30 in my area and checked it out in all. The top was in ok condition i believe suspension was installed on it and what not. Anyways i noticed when it was cranked and idling, there was a noise from the engine bay, it was something like a whine. Im scared i like the car but that noise turned me off. As long as your willing to learn to wrench on it. Its not that hard to work on and parts are actually pretty cheap. The big thing is a good running engine and transmission. Everything else is pretty easy to work on.
I bought a basket case for $600 that needed the entire suspension rebuilt. I have never done suspension work before. But after reading a few diy's it only took me a couple weekends. I trouble shooted a few other things it needed from these forums, which are a great resource.Haven't you ever seen Russian Nesting Dolls? They work like that.
