    Found an e30 but skeptical

So ive found a convertible e30 in my area and checked it out in all. The top was in ok condition i believe suspension was installed on it and what not. Anyways i noticed when it was cranked and idling, there was a noise from the engine bay, it was something like a whine. Im scared i like the car but that noise turned me off. Dude is asking 4200 and it has 130000 milles on it HELP ME!!

Loose belts shut up when they start running for a while, lol.
Your description is way too vague for proper insight.

Nah, it's totally cool dude. Coolant keeps the belts lubed and they last longer.

      But srsly. Be more specific.

What this guy said. Don't buy the wrong car, you will soon regret it when you start pouring money into it. Especially if you buy a shitty one (like I did).

Yep. Either that, or take it to a known, reputable shop.

Im sure theres a member here that could come along and help. Whining noises could be a lot of things. Could just be a bearing in the alternator, which is easy to change.

That could be a red flag right there.

As long as your willing to learn to wrench on it. Its not that hard to work on and parts are actually pretty cheap. The big thing is a good running engine and transmission. Everything else is pretty easy to work on.

I bought a basket case for $600 that needed the entire suspension rebuilt. I have never done suspension work before. But after reading a few diy's it only took me a couple weekends. I trouble shooted a few other things it needed from these forums, which are a great resource.
