Hood insulation: needed?

My problem is getting the old insulation off..its almost baked on. What did you guys use to get it unstuck?

Rip it out. My cars don't have that shit.

It reduces noise, that's it. It was noticeable enough for me and my m20 to put it back on.

I thought it also kept heat in the engine bay/off the hood to prevent the engine from returning to ambient temp so quickly?

It also keeps snow and ice from melting on your hood in winter months, plus it traps dirt and also in some cases it will rust the hood out.

I've always liked te 3 peice kind, but the factory OEM fiberglass is fugly

This and I never notice less cabin noise. Who gives a shit though, I love the sound of my engine :) WOT through twisty back roads is one if my favorite songs.

Where do you guys get replacement insulation? I pressure washed my engine bay and kinnnnda ruined it. Well, it was already crappy but I made it worse.

I removed mine, someone is welcome to it if they want one. It is in really nice shape. I was going to throw it out.

blunt can hook you up

don't get it from bavauto. They'll sell you some cheap aftermarket foam that's like 1/4 as thick as the original stuff.

I've gone back and forth on putting it on my hood. I have a set of the cheaper bavauto foam I'd give away for a beer if somebody wants to come pick it up.

In my experience, 6 cyl cars have the cardboard fibre insert part that's screwed to the hood and late 4 cyl. cars have the cut and stuck individual parts.
