Well the wife got here assignment choices

Cannon AFB New Mexico or Sheppard AFB Tx. Anyone in those areas? I don't wanna move!! I like New England, but she needs career progression. She is going to the school house if we go to TX. Yuck that part sucks ass. Is there a track close by anyone?

I will at least have a job at either place. And I can get a house cheap with a garage. I don't want to do it.

Well, here is the base according to Yahoo! maps (see red star)...

Now here's where the Texas World Speedway is located...

Here's the Texas World Speedway link:

If in doubt, contact the Lone Star chapter of BMWCCA...

....or the Tejas chpater of BMWCCA (Austin region)...

As for New Mexico, I really don't know of any tracks in that region. I suppose you could contact the BMWCCA chapter there and see what info they can pass on to you....
The BMW Car Club of America New México Chapter serves members throughout the entire state of New México and El Paso, Texas. The Chapter offers social events, driving tours, tech Sessions, and car shows.

    Hope this helps.

Disregard the info I posted above....its waaaay wrong.

The AFB is in Wichita Falls which is in north-eastern Texas (boarders Oklahoma). Dallas is roughly a 2.5 hours (by car). And if you're feeling really adventurous, Houston is 7 hours by car.....ditto for San Antonio.

Feeling like an authentic burrito? The Mexican border is 10 hours by car.

I would definately try contacting the Lone Star chapter that I noted above.

I would probably go to Sheppard, Greg. I know some people that are there, and love it. It's an active base, a fun state, etc.

I have two buddies at Cannon and another heading there in April - none are excited about it.

If it was me, personally, I'd rather be Texas than NM.

Adak, AK and Diego Garcia are slightly closer to B.F.E. than those two places.

Ok I know where both are and been to Sheppard AFB 5 times for various scholls and it sucks. Cannon I have no idea how it is but I have pased thru there on the way to Luke AFB.

As far as Adak AS well that's closed now, and Diego Garcia is fun I liked it there for about a week. Went deep sea fishing, caught some Mahi Mahi and a Tiger shark. Killed and ate em both at the Club fish fry. Golfed Joined the Yacht club and drank like a fish while we were there. Oh forgot I bowled a 248 my highest ever while we were bowling for booze, life of an aircrew member.

My wife says that she wants to goto TX, ick flat as a board guess it's no more Mtn Biking unless I drive up to Ok and goto Lawton Hills.

Hey greg, I would tell you to come down to tx so that I can get parts from you, heh. Besides my selfish reasons, your pretty much right about the landscape. (except for austin!) ...and it looks like your gonna be in the middle of nowhere. :?
